about sara, aka saz

I started producing live events in 2009 on campus at the University of Kansas. The experience led to an internship with the Television Academy, where my first on-screen credit became the 2011 Primetime Emmys.

I’ve been a freelance TV producer ever since. Over the years I’ve worn many hats and touched all areas of production, but I found my true passion within the world of post production, especially the creative areas it touches.

I have proficient skill producing package/tape pieces and I’m a huge nerd for broadcast graphics and stage screen looks. I love being part of that process, even if I’m just coordinating deliverables.

After more than a decade in the industry, I’ve landed securely in my calling as a producer. I bring a goodie bag of skills I’ve collected through the years. Here are some highlights —

  • Post management: hire & oversee teams of editors, producers, supervisors; create post schedules, calendars & deliverables; collaborate with post supervisor on mix & overtime schedules, ensuring we stay within budget.

  • Deliverables: point person for multiple deliverables across departments including but not limited to

    • graphics: create deliverables list for broadcast graphics and stage screens; set delivery deadlines; provide technical specs; oversee delivery of assets.

    • marketing: set client review timeline and deadlines; implement client notes & adhere closely to brand guidelines.

    • clearances: create and oversee grids to assist with broadcast clearances; interface with clearance contacts at studios and networks.

  • Package production: perform all footage research & collection; create paper cuts for producers & editors to see ahead of the edit; direct the cut once in the edit; receive & implement notes from producers and talent teams; collaborate with clearance supervisor to ensure every single piece of footage is cleared for broadcast; write voiceover scripts as needed.

  • Voiceover: audition talent, then work with agents & management to hire; create scripts; research phonetics to ensure correct name pronunciations; oversee & direct VO sessions.

  • During live shows: produce dynamic “coming up” visuals & credit highlight reels.

In summary I can oversee a post team, manage schedule and budgets, and work with multiple departments WHILE creating the tape pieces of your dreams. And I have a lot of fun doing it.

I would love to collaborate with you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out! Let’s create together!
